Welcome to The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery

The Grange of Prince Edward is a family run winery in Prince Edward County Ontario. We produce only 100% estate grown and made wines because we want our wines to reflect our region and our distinct style. We grow 7 varietals and produce 3 distinct lines of wine to suit our diverse clientele. We believe in eating and drinking locally and we believe in value- and we hope that’s these beliefs can be passed on to you.

Our Vineyard

Vineyards are our main focus, all of our wines are 100% estate grown. The farm consists of 60 acres of vineyards planted in chardonnay, pinot gris, riesling, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, gamay and cabernet franc.  The Grange sits on PEC ‘prime ag’ land; the soils are known as Hiller Clay-Gravel with calcium-based limestone fragments. All that is to say, we can make world-class pinot noir and other mineral driven varieties!

The Grange vineyards are planted on fertile but largely shallow Hillier Clay-Gravel soils. The underlying bedrock common to all PEC is calcium-based limestone. Where the farm is located the bedrock is very easily fractured, meaning our soils have a very high gravel content. This may have been a challenge for traditional farming, but it is great for growing grapes; it improves drainage in the top soil, provides drought protection (having roots penetrate the rock layer to reach the water below), and it can provide extra ground heat in the fall to aid with ripening. However, most important is the minerality it gives to the wine, which for PEC is often described as the backbone of the wines’ profiles.

The Grange of Prince Edward: Estate Line

Grange Estate wines will be replacing the Trumpour’s Mill line in coming vintages. The name change is meant to draw attention to the quality and authenticity of these 100% estate grown products. These are the wines that we drink all the time; they are easy-drinking, easy to pair, accessible and always a great value. This line makes up 75% of our total production.  This line will be entirely under $20, and many of these wines will be available in LCBO locations across Ontario. The styles are intended to suit many different palates, with an Estate wine for any occasion. These are the wines they we love to drink and share, and we hope you will too.

The Grange of Prince Edward: Select Line

This line is designed with restaurant clientele in mind. These will be excellent, food friendly, classic styles. They will be made in limited quantity and available to select purveyors of fine, locally focussed cuisine, as we intend for these wines to create an outstanding showcase for the exceptional pairing Ontario food and wine can create.

The Grange of Prince Edward: Single Vineyard Line

This line is designed with wine collectors in mind. These wines will only be made in the best vintages, in limited quantities, and will represent the most distinctive qualities of the farm. To highlight the terroir of our farm we will go beyond in vineyard care and management, we will hand sort for the best of the harvest, and take a hands on approach to the wine making only possible in small production wines . They will truly be collectable and one of a kind.

Connect with your wines and see the hard work that goes into every bottle! From beginners to collectors, there is a club for everyone.
